Located in the lush waterfront Dubai Harbour Pier Club at Dubai Harbour, Bar Du Port is a spectacular new restaurant that showcases French-influenced cuisine and handcrafted concoctions.
The first thing you notice as you walk into the space, is the grand BDP signage at the entrance before you enter and soak in the luxe bohemian décor around, fun vibes and stunning water views across the large open terrace.
We visited on a Saturday for Bar Du Port’s newly launched Mediterranean-inspired brunch, that promises sips that pack a punch, scrumptious dishes and cracking entertainment for four whole hours.
The highlights:
The menu is extensive, both in terms of food and beverages. We were lucky to be seated by the statement bar in the middle, where mixologists were busy at work, continuously rustling up creative concoctions like art in a glass.
We opted to begin with bitter orange infusions, perfect for the al fresco dining ambience where upbeat tunes had us almost dancing in our seats.
In no time, an array of snacks from the three-course menu showed up at our table. I can never resist a fresh, vibrant Guacamole and BDP’s avocado appetizer did not disappoint. The Smoked salmon offered a silken bite and the Marinated shrimp skewers were incredibly juicy; but the star of the first course was a serving of Chicken pops with truffle sauce. Moreish and succulent, the appetizer was a feast for our senses.
A Green salad with yuzu dressing and a classic Buffalo mozzarella & tomato salad rounded up the plethora of entrées. Now although six dishes might sound like a lot, the portions were perfect for two or three to share, ensuring happy tummies without completely stuffing you – something a brunch does all too often.
Take a breather and enjoy the ambience. Beverages are aplenty in a myriad of flavours, such as strawberry, lemongrass, lemon and coffee.
Following a break, we tucked into mains, including a Basil pesto risotto, a Pan-seared hammour, Char-grilled cornfed chicken and Australian beef tenderloin. My personal favourite was the seafood, which was seasoned well and cooked to perfection; while my dining partner, a meat enthusiast, enjoyed the beef dish.
A Red berry cheesecake, Dark chocolate coffee cake and a Tarte tatin served to satisfy our sweet tooth and round off our experience.
The verdict:
A gorgeous restaurant that boasts striking views of the Dubai Harbour, Bar Du Port is an apt spot for a weekend blast, an intimate date night or a gathering with loved ones.
