Hot chocolate mug cake

Cosy up to watch your favourite Christmas film with our mug cake. It’s just as warm and indulgent as a mug of hot chocolate, but with less risk of spillage!

Ingredients
- 30g butter
- 3 tbsp milk
- 1 medium egg
- 2 tbsp light brown soft sugar
- a few drops of vanilla extract
- 4 tbsp plain flour
- 1½ tbsp cocoa powder
- ½ tsp baking powder
- 1 square of dark chocolate , plus a few shavings to serve
- whipped cream , to serve
- small handful of mini marshmallows
Method
Put the butter in a large heatproof mug and melt in the microwave on high for 30 seconds. Add the milk, egg, sugar and vanilla, and mix well.
Stir in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and a pinch of salt using a fork until smooth. Push the square of chocolate down into the middle of the mixture.
Cook in the centre of the microwave on high for 1½-2 mins, or until risen and firm to touch. Top with whipped cream, marshmallows and chocolate shavings, and serve warm.
