Summersalt at Jumeirah Al Naseem has launched a new Japanese fusion pop-up concept, created at the hands of new Japanese/Argentinian Chef Cristian Goya.
Now open for lunch and dinner, Umi Shio fuses the artful craft of Japanese cooking, with the delicious flavours of South America , alongside a selection of new Japanese-inspired cocktails, mocktails and varieties of Sake, all served impeccably on the shores of Madinat Jumeirah’s private beach, with views of the ever-iconic Burj Al Arab.
Designed to encourage sharing, the new menu is split between appetisers, crudo, soups, tempura, seafood and meat, created using authentic Japanese and South American ingredients such as Miso, Yuzu, Truffle and lime in abundance.
The dishes include Traditional Okonomiyaki, (a savoury pancake cooked to guests preferences) Roasted Langoustines in a Sweet and Sour sauce and Miso Caramelized Eggplant to start, followed by five types of Crudo from Classic Seabass Ceviche, Truffle Seafood Ceviche, Seabass Sashimi, Yellowtail Sashimi and Salmon Tataki.
Main dishes include Saikyo Miso Black Cod and White Rice, Grilled Octopus, Potato Salad and Salsa Criollao or Miso Marinated Seabass for fish and seafood, and Anticucho (famed meat dishes from Peru) Lamb Chops, Corn-Fed Chicken Breast with Teriyaki Truffle Sauce or Wagyu Beef Tataki, for meat eaters. Desserts include a selection of Mochi, Cheesecake Brulee served with Mandarin Sorbet or Espresso Glace.
Umi Shio is the first representation of Jumeirah’s ambitious F&B plans, led by CEO Jose Silva and Chief Culinary Officer, Michael Ellis.
Speaking about the concept, Michael Ellis said: “Umi Shio is a truly fantastic new addition to Jumeirah Al Naseem’s dining offering. Not only served under the gaze of one of Dubai’s most famed icons, the flavours of the dishes crated by Chef Cristian, complemented by the service and knowledge of the team, makes this a truly unique experience, and one that I’m sure the city will enjoy. We are very much looking forward to welcoming new concepts such as these into the culinary scene, bringing our ambitious plans for dining to life.”
