MIRA, a concept by the Fatima Bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative, has officially launched in the UAE

MIRA is a social enterprise by the Fatima Bint Mohamed bin Zayed Initiative (FBMI), that supports the less fortunate women in Afghanistan. The MIRA team have travelled across Afghanistan and built trusting relationships with hard-working, vulnerable female farmers. They’ve found that these strong and independent women make a meaningful contribution to their economy.

For the past ten years now, FBMI has been working hard to provide the women of Afghanistan with various sources of income; and to maintain the unity of Afghan families and their livelihoods. The ten-year journey has seen FBMI create permanent and sustainable differences in the communities; one of these being MIRA. MIRA has now given these women a platform to finally be seen and heard. The Initiative has hired over 8,000 Afghan women, with 35 per cent of these women being widows, thus making them the sole breadwinner in their families.

FBMI has created a market for these women farmers to sell their produce globally, with all profits invested back into the initiative. To inaugurate the launch, MIRA has unveiled a special collection of premium dried fruits, nuts and saffron, grown by female farmers who are supported by MIRA, this Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr.
